Announcement: The NHanCE Research Laboratory at Purdue University is currently accepting applications for students interested in pursuing a Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering (human factors and cognitive ergonomics) beginning Fall 2018.
The Next-Generation Human-systems and Cognitive Engineering (NHanCE) Lab seeks to enhance (1) the performance of operators in complex environments (e.g., automotive, aviation, healthcare, and manufacturing) and (2) interactions with daily technologies – through interface (re)design. With particular interests in aging populations, the research group works to better understand the implications that perceptual and cognitive challenges have on the development of future human-machine interfaces. On-going research projects are in the areas of display design (i.e., multimodal interfaces), autonomous systems (i.e., driving and various workplaces), and needs assessment and technology acceptance.
Students should be familiar with inferential statistics and one or more programming languages (i.e., Python, Java, C, C#, C++, etc.).
